As a restorative dentist for the Seattle area, Dr. Taba is proud to offer one of the most effective tooth-replacement services available today: dental implants. With dental implants, patients who are missing one or more teeth can once again have a full, healthy smile that looks and feels natural.
What Makes Dental Implants Different?
Dental implants don't work like other restorative services. For instance, a traditional set of full dentures requires either suction or some form of adhesive to stay in place. Partial dentures, meanwhile, are secured with clasps or brackets.
Dental implants don't require any of these. Instead, they're held in place with one or more titanium implant posts that act like prosthetic roots. They even bond with the jaw the way natural roots do, providing you with a strong and stable foundation for your new crown, bridge, partial, or full denture. Your posts will encourage bone growth in the jaw, preventing the bone loss that occurs when you lose a tooth and its root. Traditional tooth-replacement options don't do this. As a result, many patients end up losing additional teeth later on because of bone loss.
The Dental Implants Process
A full dental implants procedure is completed in two phases. In the first phase, we will work with a specialist to surgically place one or more implant posts in your jaw. How many posts you receive will depend on how many teeth you need to replace. Afterwards, we'll give your posts some time to bond with your jaw. The bonding process typically takes a few months.
When the bonding process is complete, Dr. Taba will attach your new crown, bridge, partial or full denture, completing your implant procedure and giving you the full smile you need to enjoy good oral health.
